Veracity began work in the creation of VIOLETS’ self-titled EP in 2013 with beats from ghost producer Bog Oak. The tracks are an investigation of the color violet and its many meanings and shades. Industrial and whirring beats by Bog Oak sync dissonantly with Veracity’s brazen melodic lyrics to create imagistic aural poems designed to communicate a synesthetic aesthetic. VIOLETS EP ’s bleed of trip-hop/folk is spooky and sensual. The song SON OF A features drummer Kyle Clairmont Jacques, of Widowspeak, METH, & BEEF. The song FORTUNATO features saxophonist Ian Young, of The Yeah Yeah Yeahs & M83. VIOLETS live shows have included interpretive movement by performers including Kana Hatakeyama and Tedra Millan. VIOLETS released the five track demo album, FULL NEON EP in summer 2020.
Veracity’s beloved Berber grandmother created the chorus for SON OF A: "he don’t buy you jeans, he don’t buy you shoes, he don’t buy you a helicopter, get out of here SON OF A!"
The release of VIOLETS’ first music video for the single HONOR KILLING garnered international attention. HONOR KILLING is an anthem denouncing domestic violence. As artists, we must speak for those without voices. It is an ode to those around the world living in fear of prejudice and abuse.
